The change will be rolled out via Windows Update for the affected Windows versions. ![]() I had reported on this in blog post Windows 10: Microsoft disables Internet Explorer 11 on Feb. On Febru(Patchday), Microsoft will force the redirection of all Internet Explorer 11 calls on affected operating systems to Microsoft Chromium Edge. ![]() Windows Server 2022 and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 are also not affected. ![]() Only the older Windows versions still in support, such as Windows Server 2012 R2, or the Windows 10 LTSC versions (15) and Windows Server on the market, are also not affected by this change. Microsoft has already discontinued support for Internet Explorer 11 as a desktop application for Windows 10 version 20H2 and higher as of J(this applies to the desktop and IoT variants of Windows 10, see Internet Explorer Desktop App retires on June 15, 2022). Microsoft has rehashed the topic in this older Techcommunity article, which is updated cyclically. I came across this issue again via the following tweet, which I have addressed here on the blog more often (see links at the end of the article). The replacement of Internet Explorer 11 with Microsoft Edge as the browser is nothing new, but has been known for a while.
